Your Questions Answered: About Neuro-Affirming Nutrition, Insurance, & Support

Answers on HAES, eating disorder recovery, and neurodivergent-affirming care.

What is a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) and how is it different from a Nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a licensed healthcare professional who has completed accredited coursework, supervised clinical training, and passed a national board exam. RDNs also complete ongoing continuing education to provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based nutrition counseling. In contrast, the term “nutritionist” is not consistently regulated—some may have advanced training, while others may not hold formal credentials. Choosing a Registered Dietitian ensures you receive safe, science-backed nutrition care tailored to your health needs.

What is your philosophy on nutrition and health?

My philosophy is that nutrition should be empowering, inclusive, and free of shame. I provide weight-inclusive, evidence-based nutrition counseling with compassion and curiosity, always honoring your unique lived experiences. Whether you’re navigating eating disorder recovery, diabetes, or chronic health conditions, my goal is to create a supportive space where you can explore your relationship with food in a safe, affirming way. I am committed to offering LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent-affirming care so every client feels understood, respected, and supported.

Where are you located? Do you offer virtual/telehealth services?

I am a Registered Dietitian based in Chicago, Illinois, and I proudly offer virtual nutrition counseling and telehealth services to clients across the United States. Whether you’re in the Chicagoland area, elsewhere in Illinois, or anywhere nationwide, you can access convenient, personalized nutrition support from the comfort of your home.

What are your specialties or areas of focus?

I provide comprehensive nutrition support for a wide range of health and wellness goals. My approach is rooted in compassion and evidence-based care, guiding you toward a more peaceful, sustainable relationship with food and body. My goal is to create practical, affirming solutions that help you nourish yourself in a way that truly fits your life.

No matter your goals, I provide inclusive, nonjudgmental care tailored to your unique needs and lived experiences.

Do you provide meal plans?

I don’t believe in rigid or one-size-fits-all meal plans, since they often feel restrictive and rarely fit into real life. Instead, my approach focuses on teaching you the skills to confidently plan and nourish yourself long term.

That said, I can provide example meal plans to help you visualize what a balanced eating pattern might look like based on your goals, preferences, and lifestyle. Together, we’ll create practical, flexible strategies that empower you to make sustainable food choices—without the pressure of strict rules.

What is your approach to weight management?

My approach to weight management is weight-neutral and rooted in a weight-inclusive philosophy. Instead of focusing on the number on the scale, I help you explore intuitive eating principles, mindful nutrition, and body respect. Together, we work on building sustainable habits that support your overall health—physically, mentally, and emotionally—without pressure, guilt, or shame.

My goal is to empower you with tools that improve your well-being and your relationship with food in a lasting way.

Do you accept insurance? What are your fees/pricing?

Yes! I accept insurance through Nourish, and I’m committed to making nutrition counseling accessible and affordable. In fact, 95% of Nourish patients have $0 out-of-pocket cost for dietitian visits thanks to the Nourish Guarantee—ensuring no surprise bills.

Here’s how it works: No charge if denied – If insurance denies a claim, you won’t be billed for completed sessions. Transparent copays/coinsurance – You’ll never be charged more than your initial estimate until your insurer confirms the final cost. Deductible flexibility – If sessions apply to your deductible, you can choose not to pay for past sessions (though future ones would then be out-of-pocket).

For exact details, I recommend scheduling a discovery call to review your benefits and confirm coverage.

Together, we’ll make sure you know what to expect before starting your nutrition journey.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that life happens, which is why I offer free cancellations up to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.

This policy helps me manage my schedule effectively while ensuring I can provide consistent, high-quality care to all clients. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your session may be subject to a $75.00 fee that is not covered by insurance.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions depends on your unique goals, health needs, and relationship with food. Most clients begin with weekly nutrition counseling sessions, which help build momentum, provide consistent support, and create space for meaningful behavior change.

Over time, we’ll adjust session frequency—moving to biweekly, monthly, or as-needed—based on your progress and what feels most supportive. My goal is to ensure your nutrition care is flexible, sustainable, and always aligned with your evolving needs.
